Home-School Agreement

The Home-School Agreement (or HSA) spells out the responsibilities of the school and you, the parent. It also contains information on what the school expects of your child. All state schools should have a written Home-School Agreement, which explains the aims and values of the school.

The aim of the HSA is to help your child experience continuity of learning between school and home. This is why your support at home can make a huge difference.

This Agreement should help you to understand your role in developing your child's education. You don't have to sign anything, and the school won't penalise you or your child, but you really are missing a trick if you don't try and enter into the spirit of the Agreement. After all, school is just one of many places where learning can be developed.

Learning at home need not always be structured but can be incorporated into everyday life. For instance, where better to learn about fishes and animals in a pond than a visit to a local park?

Letts publish a range of books, suitable for a variety of different learning styles that will ensure you understand what topics your child will be covering each year at school. They are also packed full of revision activities and ideas for ways you can explore each topic with your child.
